Identify the sensitive periods
Tell us about trading hours, appointments, deliveries, events and restricted-access periods. Identify the areas that must remain available and who can authorise access or a shutdown.
Discuss sequencing and disruption
Ask which stages involve drilling, noise, dust, lifting or loss of cooling and heating. Consider whether areas can be completed in phases. Agree protection and clearing arrangements for stock, furniture and equipment.
Confirm the programme in writing
Out-of-hours work, temporary arrangements and phased installation need agreement on suitability, availability and cost. Confirm equipment and site readiness before treating dates as fixed. No promise of uninterrupted operation is made; business-critical areas need a specific continuity plan.
Your conversation checklist
- Opening hours and blackout dates
- Expected shutdowns and noisy tasks
- Access and protection responsibilities
- Agreed programme and any extra costs
