Start with the equipment record
The model and serial number help identify the system. If you have the installation date, commissioning documents or service reports, include them. Only photograph labels that are accessible safely; do not remove covers or climb to reach them.
Assess more than age
Discuss condition, previous faults, comfort, operating hours and any change in use. Ask the engineer which findings support a repair, continued maintenance or replacement recommendation.
Check support before committing
Parts availability, compatibility, lead time and any applicable warranty need checking for the actual model. Neither a repair nor new equipment comes with a promise that every future fault is prevented. Request a written scope and the relevant terms.
Your conversation checklist
- Model and serial number if safely visible
- Approximate installation date if known
- Service and warranty records
- What you would like to improve
