What does the repair cover?
Check the diagnosis, parts, labour, access costs and any separate work. Ask whether further faults could become apparent once work starts and how additional costs would be agreed. Confirm any repair warranty and its exclusions.
What does replacement include?
Check equipment combinations, removal of existing equipment, pipework, drainage, electrics, controls, commissioning and making good. Identify exclusions and responsibilities, including access equipment or another trade’s work.
Compare costs on stated assumptions
An operating-cost comparison should state the equipment, usage, electricity tariff and assumptions. Ask for the basis of any saving estimate; a newer unit does not establish a specific saving on your bill. Keep maintenance, warranty terms and disruption in the comparison.
